Assistance Dog
Assistance Dog ASSESSMENT
This course offers the assessment of the key behaviours required for Assistance Dog work. This course can be used to help track progress and for certification purposes. These certificates are intended for personal use, but may be used to support access to public locations. 

We offer 3 levels. These must be completed in order.

Basic
This is an initial assessment. Upon completion of this level, you will receive a certificate stating that the dog is qualifies as an Assistance Dog Prospect. Certificate is valid for 24 months.

- Basic food manners
- Basic walking
- Basic focus
- Basic dog socialisation
- Basic human socialisation
- Basic equipment
- Basic theory

Intermediate
This is the development assessment. Upon completion of this level, you will receive a certificate stating that the dog is qualified as an Assistance Dog in Training. The dog must be at least 8 months old and have passed the Basic assessment. Certificate valiad for 24 months.

Advanced
This is the final assessment. Upon completion of this level you will revieve a certificate stating that the dog is qualified as an Assistance Dog. The dog must be at least 18 moths old and have passed the Intermediate asssessment. Certificate valid for 18 months.

Assessment method
Video upload to our online learning enviroment Moodle (large files may require upload as unlisted on YouTube) and written tasks completed on a work processing application or directly to our online learning eviroment Moodle.

Certification
This course includes a hard certificate for each level. 
Whilst this course is part of our membership accreditation, this course alone does not accredit the client as a PAWtected member.

This courses offers training and assessment of key facts and situations which are vital when being aware of Assistance Dogs. These certificates are intended for personal use but may be used to show level of training.

We offer 3 stages of training within this programme.

Basic – This is the initial information which an individual would need to know. The information is simple and easy to understand to ensure that you have a foundation in which to progress further with.

Intermediate – This is the more detailed and specific information which an individual would need to know. The information is more complex and the topics relate to real life situations and how to use the information to support the Assistance Dog community.

  • Correct behaviours for an Assistance Dog
  • How Assistance Dogs mitigate their handlers disabilities
  • Supporting an Assistance Dog team

Advanced – This is the most detailed and specific information which an individual would need to know. The information helps to provide reasonable adjustments and looks in more detail about behind the scenes information about Assistance Dogs.
